A short testimony before I totalli forget about wat I wan to share..

E other day when I was visiting my bukit batok grp.. I was veri irritated and a lil discourage by 3 of my regulars telling me that they can't come anymore and don't wan to come to church anymore.. The oldest boy has been coming to church for 10 years.. So first tots tat come to my mind was that jialat lidat 3 gone lea.. *as a leader every soul counts and it will affect alot of things la* so aft grumbling to a fren bout it and I begun to pick myself up knowing that big day is a week away and I can afford to lose my faith all tt so I begun to look to God and told God that I have done my best in their lives.. And I prayed that I will have 3 new comers that are veri potential and can "cover up for the 3 regs" and like was telling God saying didn't u say in e bible tt when ur name is lifted up, ppl will be drawn to u...

And just continue visitin as per normal.. True enough today as in sat, my 5 years old boy who came for the 3rd time today brought 2 of his frens and another 2 of my regs brought a neighbour of theirs.. Which make a total of 3 new comers and all 3 of em are very potential and keen to join us every week.. And realli thank God for the breakthrough in attendance..

I'm believing that this Easter will be a great one and there will be breakthroughs in both my toa payoh and bukit batok group.. :)

so if u r seein this post.. PRAY for me.. Hahah.. At least 15 for my toa payoh and 32 for my bukit batok grp.. Haha

The Beatitudes
3 "God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,*
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
4 God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole earth.
6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,*
for they will be satisfied.
7 God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
9 God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

11 "God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you* and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.12 Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

Teaching about Salt and Light
13 "You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
14 "You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

The verses on the beattitudes are certainly something we should constantly come back to in reading the bible.

As a believer, nothing matter more to God than our attitudes/ condition of our heart. Many a times, it is the wrong attitudes within us that leads to many undesirable outcomes. Realise the word "blesses" was repeated 9 times in the beattitudes. Therefore, certainly as Christians, if we hold on to these 9 attitudes, beattitudes, we will have these 9 blessings.

Interestinly, Jesus went on to share on being the Salt and the Light right after sharing on the beattitudes. In order to be the salt and the light of the earth, we must first ensure we have the right attitudes, the right Godly attitudes (beattitudes).

13 "You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. (NLT)

¹³ “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. (NKJV)

Here we realised that if we do not have the beattitudes, no matter how successful we are, we will lose our flavor. Who would trample those who loses their flavor? Realise in the NKJV, it is men, not God. Many times we fail to succeed in the things we do is not because of the God factor but simply our inability to have the beattitudes in us.

Fixed your attitude first and I'm sure you are on the path to great influence and success.

Making Time for God

King David was one of the greatest bible character in the old testament.
Bible describes him as a man after God's heart.
What is the secret of his great success as a king?

(1) David praise God

(2) David meditates the Word of God
Even as he sleeps, the revelation and the Word keeps "instructing" his heart.

(3) David had an intimate encounter with God.
He knows who he is in God, and who God is in Him.

(4) David choose to rejoice and be glad.

(5) The presence of God in David's life gave him immense joy.
"... you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand."

Friends, we can find great joy and comfort just like King David for all seasons of our lives.
Having an encounter with God over and over again, having the presence of God in our lives, would bring forth joy and eternal pleasures.
If King David can have time for God, do we have excuse to be too busy?

Let's make time for God.

How open are you to learn

In every situation, there is always the opportunity to learn something, to benefit from it. Why do many of us always miss such an opportunity?

The answer lies in our attitude and response to such situations. This is especially so in a bad situation. How our attitude and response to it would determine a lot whether we are able to benefit from this bad situation.

Your perception about the situation is crucial. The cup can be half full or half empty.
When being reprimanded, when there are negative feedbacks about our performance, the first natural response is "My boss do not understand"; "The mistake is not mine, its someone else"

My boss recently commented very negatively about my meeting recording and presentation. My first response was very negative. I took it very personally. I was offended.
After much thinking, when I had cooled down, I went through the report and I realised that even though my boss response might be a little out of line, I acknowledged that a positive attitude and response would be the best for me in order to benefit from this situation.
Having such a change in attitude, from being defensive to being open to negative feedbacks, I am able to clearly see where I needed further improvements.

This explains why the bible says in Matthew 5:5

Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.

Meekness refers to being humble. In our situations, do we humble and acknowledge that there are areas we truely needs improving or do we build a defensive wall out of pride?
It is no wonder that the meek/humble progresses the fastest and most in life because they are willing to acknowledge their shortcomings and willing to be taught. And with such a great attitude and response, the meek will be able to overcome mountains and inherit the earth.

Are we meek enough to acknowledge that we are not perfect and needs improvement?
The meek will inherit the earth

Throwing and Putting

Mark 12:41-44 talks about the widow with two mites. In verse 42, she "threw" in two mites, while the rich in verse 41 "put" in their offerings. (In Luke 21:1-4, both the widow and the rich "put" in their offerings. However, we have to bear in mind that Luke was a physician, and his style of writing was rather straightforward, focused on the hard details but not so much on the soft details.) No word in the Bible is written carelessly, thus there's a difference between throwing and putting.

Throwing denotes doing something with a purpose, with a decision that the offering is not really hers, and she was determined to give. While there is nothing wrong with just "putting" one's offering, throwing shows one's resolve and decisiveness to part with it.

Mark 12:41 says "Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury." It was the manner and attitude of giving that Jesus was looking for, not for how much people were giving, or even how much (percentage-wise) they were giving. This shows a lot about the widow's attitude towards offering, and is something we should learn from.

W457= Self-sacrificing

If I am being asked," What type of members are you raising up in W457?" What would my reply be?

Above and byond the Great Commandment and the Great Commission, loving God and people, to share the gospel and making disciples, W457 will generate members who are willing to make sacrifices in order to change life.

A generation who is not self-seeking but putting others before self.

"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
"Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
-Matthew 7:13

The broad road talks about a group of people who refuse to get out of their comfort zone, to go the extra mile, to make the sacrifices that is required, to flow together with the vision. This group of people is more than often recognised as one who is always choosing the convenient way, always "I, me and myself".
The narrow road however is difficult and few actually choose this route.

If our CG pattens ourselves with the broad road, then we are on the path to destruction. On the contrary, the choice to position ourselves on the narrow way would lead to an open heaven, success and fulfillment.

As we are entering into the last quarter of the year, our season would gradually be shifted towards soul-winning (evangelism). Evangelism requires us to be on the narrow way. What measures do we need to take to be on the "narrow road" ?

(a) Be Accomodating
Many a times, as a CG, we do not feel comfortable integrating new people who more than often are not like us. They can be of different age, different education backgrounds or interests. It is human nature to be wary of strangers. We, as a family, however would need to get out of our comfort zone and engage them. This is a risk we need to make. An adjustment we need to make. Let's make the extra effort to be extra interested in him/her. Make them the VIP, give them extra honour.

(b) Unity
Our new friends would be observing how united we are as a family. People would not join us if we are constantly having disagreement, hurling negative remarks etc. A warm family is one with love and understanding, cooperation and agreement.

(c) Sacrifice
Just as much as Christ sacrifice much for us, we too, should be willing to make sacrifices for our new friends. People do not care how much you love until you show how much you care. Be prepared to invest your time, energy and if need be, financially. The best investment you can make is to invest in another person!

Friends, I am sure, that as we

(b) United
(c) Sacrifice
the harvest will be bountiful and will remain.

Let's position ourselves on the "narrow way", the one that do not leads to destruction but life everlasting.

Say No to the Status Quo

Status quo is Latin for "the mess we're in."
Leaders see what is, but they also have a vision for what could be. They are never content with things as they are. To be leading, by definition, is to be in front, breaking new ground, conquering new worlds, moving away from the status quo.

Dissatisfaction with the status quo does not mean having a negative attitude or grumbling. It has to do with a willingness to be different and to take risks. A person who refuses to risk change fails to grow. A leader who loves the status quo soon becomes a follower.
Raymond Smith of the Bell Atlantic Corporation once remarked, "Taking the safe road, doing your job, and not making any waves may not get you fired (right away, at least), but it sure won't do much for your career or your company over the long haul. We're not dumb. We know that administrators are easy to find and cheap to keep.
Leaders - risk takers - are in very short supply. And ones with vision are pure gold."

Risk seems dangerous to many people because they are more comfortable with the old problems versus what it takes to come up with new solutions. The difference is attitude. When you seek out potential leaders, seek people who seek solutions.

Wedding Feast

This season I'm reading through the gospels, and came upon what Pst. Tan just preached not long ago.

Matthew 22 talks about the parable of the wedding feast. What caught my attention was this verse, Matthew 22:12 - So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless.

The '"king" (archetype of God) referred to the guy without a wedding garment as "Friend". In today's English, the word 'friend' is very casually used, but not so last time. I do not know the exact Greek translation, but for sure it means much more than the casual acquaintance. That is, the guy without a wedding garment was considered as a friend by the king. Yet he was thrown out because he wasn't prepared for the wedding. Very often we sing "I am a friend of God", and we talk about a relationship with God, but I realise just having a relationship itself may not be enough.

This isn't meant to scare us about God, but rather to always evaluate our relationship with God, just like how we have to constantly evaluate our relationships with the people around us. Is the relationship going anywhere? Is it something that you treasure? Relationships determine our lives, and I think our relationship with God is always worth reflecting upon. :)

The Wise and the Foolish

I was reading Matt 25 on the Parables of the Wise and Foolish Virgins. 'Wise' and 'Foolish' are the extreme opposites. What makes them so?

I realised the only difference between the Wise and the Foolish was the amount of extra "oil" that the Wise had. Kind of like their 'backup'. When their lights went out (both the Wise and the Foolish's lights went out, like in tough times), the Wise knew what to do: get their 'backup' oil, their prayer life, their own revelations. The Foolish, however, had to turn back and get "oil" from others, i.e. they relied on others for their spiritual walk. This in the end was what separated them.

Both slumbered; i.e. both slept and rested. Both carried lights, and for both of them, their lights went out. When the bridegroom delayed his arrival, both the Wise and Foolish virgins lights' went out. But it was their reserve oil that they had prepared by themselves that made the difference. Compare Matt 25:12 "Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you." and Matt 7:23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'"

As Christians, we cannot assume that we are always ready but rather to consistantly keep check that we are ready and eligible should Christ comes back. This is why it is utmost important to progress our walk and understanding about God. This is being done most profoundly through the Word, prayers and worship. By progressing, we are storing a good reserve so that should something bad hit us, we can tide through because of the miracles and testimonies of what God has done for us in the past, how God came through for us.

yup.. was serving for the very first service children day today. soo today it was rather lack of manpower cause its a normal working day and today's service is for the student cares and child cares... soo i was doing some stuff and i dropped my phone in B4 and i didnt realised it..

soo when i got to noe that its missing, I totally have no idea where did i drop it anymore.. soo the thoughts of "CRAP I LOST MY PHONE.. HOW AM I GONNA SURVIVE WITHOUT IT CAUSE ITS BIG DAY.. and i have to stay contactable all tat.." just filled my whole mind.. but it suddenly just hit me that i sldnt look at it this way.. so i started praising GOD.. Thanking him for the things he done for me.. and praised GOD that i can get a new phone..

so i told my good fren in Children church about it and his reaction was is ur phone this model? Its with the ZS!

so really want to thank God that my phone! =)

Reading and understanding the bible

Ever thought about the importance of reading the bible ???

The bible all in all consist of 66 books, seperated into 2 parts, the old and new testament.

Basically, the old testament is the period before Jesus Christ came to earth while the new testament describes the period during which Jesus was on earth and what happened after His resurrection.

Firstly, we all need to understand that the bible was not written by God Himself. The bible was written by a number of writers, among which are the disciples of Jesus Christ. However, what we can be sure and confident of, is that the bible though written by man, is being inspired by God. This means that God is in control and allow, "supervises" every word that is being written. This can be found in the verse:

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righetousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

For people who are new to the bible, my advice would always be to start off reading the book of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. These are the 4 gospels in the bible that describes the ministry of Jesus Christ and what He actually physically said and taught. Therefore, it is worthwhile and very important that we keep coming back to these 4 books on a frequent basis.

Reading the bible will bring you into an interesting journey with God.
It is most unlikely that anyone would actually hear God speaking to us audibly. What we can however be sure of is His words in the bible. As we read the bible, it is as good as God speaking "audibly" to us. This is especially true as you continue to read the bible over a prolong period. The verses are the same, the wordings are the same. Yet the application and the relevance of those verses to us in different seasons of our life makes it alive and interesting. The same verse can be viewed differently in different circumstances.

As believers, as we continue walking close with God, as we read the bible more and meditate over the verses, we realise that we will consistantly receive revelations.
Revelations basically means things that was once hidden, now made known. In the biblical sense, the meaning behind a verse is now being made known from a different perception. This is revelation.

Throughout history until today, it is interesting to note that mankind are still debating whether the bible is really the true authority considering that it is being written by man. And there is no conclusion to this debate to this day. Personally, what matters is not the conclusion of the debate but rather the reality of the bible to us as believers. For this reason we need to have faith, not in man, but in God. We need to have faith in God that He would choose and allow His written word to be penned accurately. After all, if God is almighty, surely He would not let His Word be distorted isn't it?

Lastly, I need to remind all that bible studies are important too. In our busy schedules, so often we neglect this important education. If the bible is alive, full of revelations, then bible studies should be a life-long program. You might have completed the whole series but whenever you re-visit those lessons either by attending those lesson again or teaching those lessons, revelations upon revelations would surface to you.

Our Comfort Allows Us to Comfort Others

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

God promises to comfort us in our troubles, then asks us to share that comfort with others. We are to empower others with the power God gives us. Leaders who empower others offer these gifts:

1. Accountability-They help others keep their commitments to God.
2. Affirmation-They speak words of support and encouragement.
3. Assessment-They evaluate others' progress, offering an objective perspective.
4. Advice-They offer words of wise counsel and direction.
5. Admonishment-They lend words of caution, rebuke, or correction.
6. Assets-They give tangible resources to help their people reach their goals.
7. Acceptance-They provide unconditional love, regardless of the recipients' identity.
8. Application-They help others find places to apply and practice what they learn.

We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. Confessing verbally that we are Christians or just by being religious doesn't mean we know God.
Let your lifestyle be a testimony that you are a Christian and not just by your religious acts.
Outside church programs, are we still living a lifestyle that is parallel to the bible?
Are we genuine Christians 24/7 or just weekend professional Christians?
